Audience members are invited to dance and experience the physicality of this famously riot-inducing ballet. Curated DJ sets blending electronica and classical styles complete a night of shock, awe and musical rebellion.
Igor Stravinsky stunned the world when his Rite of Spring Paris premiered in 1913, accompanied by Nijinsky’s iconoclastic choreography. The savage power and brilliance of the music feels revolutionary again in the Rite of Spring Dance Party, where you can bust your best moves to the Glorification of the Chosen One and dance to exhaustion in the Danse Sacrale. The 77-member Experiential Orchestra — comprised of some of New York and D.C.’s top musicians and conducted by James Blachly — will provide the Stravinsky, and the audience will provide their own impromptu choreography. The evening includes DJ sets and a specially commissioned dance performance.
